I know what I say cannot help the situation nor change anything that is happening in Thailand now but can violence really solve these political issues in the very end? It saddens me to see the mess the land of smiles has turned into.

I want to be fearless, always

This is a post drafted way long ago but seeing an almost dead blog, I might as well put this up with a bit of new info here and there. =)

“To be fearless when stepping into unfamiliar territory because you never know what you will find. To be stubborn and stand up for what you believe in because at the end of the day, that’s what really matters”

This is a quote from Contradictheory By Dzof Azmi (The Star). I loved this line because I can really relate to the message trying to be brought up here.

I think most Malaysians live a life where we are brought up to “not be different”. When we’re in school, the more As we get, the more clever we are. Science stream is good, Arts stream is bad. The children are forced to accept this belief or follow to avoid being looked down by others. The education system as many know has taught children to be narrow minded, thinking that there is only one right answer to every question or problem given to us, making us people who are afraid to break the norm, take challenges, risks and to push boundaries.

I respect opinions from others but here is what I think: I believe education can only take us this far. It isn’t enough to determine one’s success in life. And so It’s a sad scene, seeing many Malaysians/ Asians taking the safe route or the route their parents think is best. I know that our parents worry of our future, they want the best of us but we only have one life and it’s our own decisions that determines all the thrills and exciting moments we get to experience in this journey of life. I say it’s okay to be unconventional! No one can say we made the right choice until we breathe our very last breath in this life we live in, with no “what if?s” and no regrets.

Sort of like an announcement to blog readers, I have been offered to study at Nanyang Acedemy of Fine Arts (NAFA) in Singapore, taking a diploma in Design and Media and majoring in advertising. Besides, I received a tuition grant from the education ministry of Singapore together with a bursary award from the Lee Foundation through NAFA. Will be going to Singapore early July and no, I have not found a place to live yet. Help?

Honestly speaking, I am one who dreams a lot. There are many things I’d like to achieve in life and they do sometimes warrant the occasional rain check for example if I’m doing them right or are these what I really want. I’m not a strong enough person who can stand strong to my grounds and opinions 24/7 but at the end of the day, I know what I do not want to be or what I do not like to do and I believe it’s what’s most important for now before I figure the rest as I grow. c:

On a totally irrelevant sidenote: I’m sorry I have not updated recently.

PS tutorial: From boring to attractive

My first PS tutorial, Photoshop Tutorial : coloring/ enhancing was one I found lacking as it was my first so I decided to do a new one. There can be endless ways to enhance an image and it’s always fun to experiment to get different effects or turn a very dull and boring image into one that looks good.

Today, I dug out a photo from my last Buntal Sunrise trip and am gonna teach you how to transform a photo like this:

Creating your mini-magazine

I have been receiving quite a few messages and emails asking me for tips on how to create a mini-magazine for this year’s Star NiE Mag Inc. 2010 competition. For the reason that I cannot answer every single person, I have promised to write a blog entry specially on this to give some tips from my experience last year. Hopefully, this would help those who are interested in creating your NiE magazine.

Magazine template

Designs printed on A3 paper.

Firstly, by now, every group should have their NiE template(s). By what I saw last year, you can design your magazine layout on computer (like how out team did with Adobe photoshop), printed on A3 paper and glued onto the template, draw by hand. Any method is fine as long as you do it within the borders provided and submit the whole template at the end of the day.
